What do you mean "change kdm"? Could you be a little more specific? Do you want to change the aesthetic appearance, the window managers/desktop environments available, do you want to ditch kdm altogether...?

Goto "configure System/personal settings"->"system administration"->"Login Manager" . Here change all the settings u want.

The question doesn't make sense, sorry. kdm is a windows manager and SuSE 10.2 is an entire distribution.

You can select which is the default windowmanager for your system by editing /etc/sysconfig/windowmanager and running "SuSEconfig --nonewpackage".

For the default display manager, you can edit /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager and run "SuSEconfig --nonewpackage"

A better way to swich which windowmanager you use is to do so from the kdm or gdm login script. Under system, you can select which type of session you want, and select the default.

I took too long looking up the various answers, so others have already got a clarification.
SuSE 10.2 has a nice search feature in the menu, where you can enter "login" and possible menu choices are filtered. Even a kerry search result of this webpage was included.

The setting isn't personal however. If you aren't logged in, how could it be?
