How to change from KDE to Gnome?
 

I bought my pre-installed thinkpad and KDE was the GUI I was given. I want to change to Gnome and seem to have succeeded changing root over, but not the user. Gnome is installed already, so how do I go about changing over?

When you get to the log in stage, you'd normally have the facility to open your desktop with gnome by selecting it with the dropdown below the username/password (well that's how I do it as i've also got both environment's installed).

if you run "startx" from the command line, then you can edit your ~/.xinitrc file, changing the last line in the file from "startkde" to "gnome-session"
