How to capture the screen content?

In Windows I could just press the "Print Screen" button and then paste it in some graph program, but it seems like it does not work in linux?! Why? And what is the alternative/solution?

Thanks.

There are several ways to to it such as the import command. I usualyl use gimp though as it is easy to get the whole scress or just one window.

You don't give any information on your distro ? but in KDE there is a program called KSnapshot which will do exactly what you are looking for

Try xwd, xwdtopnm ... then edit to your needs ...

Uh, sorry... distro is SuSE 9.2 PRO. KSnapshot does the job. :)

However, I couldn't managed to get it with GIMP 2.0?!

Gimp 2.0:

File >> Aquire >> Screen shot
