You will have to edit your grub.conf file in /boot/grub to load the kernel knoppix uses along with the partition root. I think if you post your config we should be able to help you.

Grub+Knoppix

My situation is similar. I installed Knoppix and it works fine when i use the boot disc, I am able to mount my other partitions and such. When i dont use the boot disc and i use Grub to load Knoppix I see a bunch of errors while Knoppix continues to load. Then I am unable to mount any of my other partions.
my grub.conf is this

# grub.conf generated by anaconda
#
# Note that you do not have to rerun grub after making changes to this file
# NOTICE: You have a /boot partition. This means that
# all kernel and initrd paths are relative to /boot/, eg.
# root (hd0,1)
# kernel /vmlinuz-version ro root=/dev/hda3
# initrd /initrd-version.img
#boot=/dev/hda
default=2
timeout=10
splashimage=(hd0,1)/grub/splash.xpm.gz
title Knoppix
root (hd0,1)
kernel /vmlinuz ro root=/dev/hda3
initrd /System.map
title Windows
rootnoverify (hd0,0)
chainloader +1

What do I need to change?(post was edited for inaccuracies)
