How to boot into the shell
I've got Red Hat 9.0 installed as a virtual machine in VMWare but VMWare Tools can't be installed from XWindow. I need to create an option so I can boot directly into the shell. I've been Googling this for a few days and searching various sites and using the man pages but can't seem to come up with what must be a simple solution. So I've decided to humble myself and ask a pretty silly question. Help.

Ctrl-Alt-F1 ?
or to single user mode: "init 1" |
Thanks.

BTW, if u want a ((permenant)) boot in shell, multi user, with network (run level 3) u can edit ur /etc/inittab and change
Code:
id:5:initdefault: mustafa |
Cntl-Alt-F1 did the trick. VMWare Tools are installed. Thanks for the help.
