How to block websites?

Hi there,

I know there are umpteen posts on this topic all over net. That is a problem for me, which is to chose?

Here is the situation. At work I want to be totally professional; I sometimes get sucked into reading a lot of bbc and blogs. I want to avoid this at work but should be able to access them easily at home. So the best solution I have found is to modify /etc/hosts file.

Here are the contents of my /etc/hosts file

127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.1.1 srikanth-laptop
127.0.0.1 www.bbc.co.uk
127.0.0.1 www.cricinfo.com
127.0.0.1 www.wordpress.org

# The following lines are desirable for IPv6 capable hosts
::1 ip6-localhost ip6-loopback
fe00::0 ip6-localnet
ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix
ff02::1 ip6-allnodes
ff02::2 ip6-allrouters
ff02::3 ip6-allhosts

According to lines 3,4 & 5 the respective websites should be inaccessible. However this is not the case! I am still able to reach these websites. Any clues where the problem could be?

Thanks
Srikanth
