Unhappy how to backup or copy a file to usb or cd


I'm a new user. I just installed debian linux in a pc. I want to copy files to either the usb port or to cd, but i know nothing about it.
Can anyone help?

Open a terminal in the folder where your files are located and then use the command "cp" to copy your files to usb device (which need to be mounted, of course). Type "man cp" in order to get information on the command

if you want to burn a cd, then you need a software. I guess that debian come with brasero but I'm not sure
