You will need to check your /etc/init.d/ folder. If I need to execute a program even before I start X then this is the way to go. There are a lot of Shell scripts there. You could create a new one (make sure you change the properties to be executable). Or you could simply add the command to one of the scripts that you know starts when you start the system.

For your second question you could check your home folder for the following files
.xinitrc
.xsession

these files are run when X starts, you could add your command to them.

Something more.. If you use KDE then you could check out you $HOME/.kde/Autostart folder. Create a shell script like this

#!/bin/bash
/bin/miniuni

thats all. And remember set it to be executable.

I hope that helps you. And on a personal note.. check out the net before you ask, every question a newbie asks has been answered somewhere (most probably on this very forum). Doesnt hurt to try.. cos you'll get your answer rightaway.

Cheers
Valerie
