How to add more space in linux root file system?

Right now my virtual machine almost used space 92%,so if i want to add more space or extent the root file system, what is the way do that? Thanks advance.

If the VG is large enough, you can shrink another LV and expand your root LV
If it's not, and 7 GB is all you allocated for the entire VM, you'll have to use your VM tools to expand the drive (if that's possible), then expand your VG and LV to use the added space. If your VM tools can't expand the drive, you can probably add a second disk to your VM, then inside the VM you can add this new disk to your VG and expand your LV. That was way too many 2-letter acronyms... VM = virtual machine VG = LVM volume group LV = LVM logical volume |
