I just installed kubuntu with the text mode installation option(not with the Graphical installation) because of the issues ubuntu has with my nvidia graphic card ..... but now How can I activate or view the kDE GUI ??
I wanna know if there is anyway to do that ??? that I can activate the GUI..........( with the 'sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg' command I have change the graphic card setting ) but now I want ot change the text mode to KDE GUI mode .... how is that possible ???? thanks
Do you mean you start the computer but only get the text login? Can you look at the file /var/log/Xorg.0.log and tell us if you see any errors. You can read the file with "cat /var/log/Xorg.0.0.log" and scroll the screen up with shift+page up. The init script /etc/init.d/kdm should start KDE, you can start this with "sudo /etc/init.d/kdm", but it should've actually have started automatically.
Installed cent os 5.3
installed gnome and kde
after installation, uninstalled gnome to use kde as default.
after the uninstallation of gnome, graphics doesnot work.
can any one help me?
