Question How to Access windows server 2008 shared folder(samba is installed) from Ubuntu


Hello Friends,

I would like to access my shared folder from the ubuntu.

I have already installed samba on the Windows server 2008.

I try to access using :
Places -> Connect to server

Service type : custom
Location : smb://server/shared_folder
name : shared_folder

it shows me one icon on the desktop, when i try to open it it ask for the username and password of the server i write both but still it ask again and again........

how to solve this problem.

Try putting the hostname/domain name of the server in front of the username:
Username: domainorhostname\username
Sometimes you need to tell it what to verify the username against.

You need to install samba on the ubuntu machine.
