I wouldn't use putty for that at all. If you are using Windows you can access Samba shares with looking in your Network Neighbourhood, in Linux you can simply mount the share.
Putty is an SSH client compatible with OpenSSH servers and close clones, using the ssh protocol.
SAMBA is a package or collection of client and server pieces for SMB protocol, generally compatible with the MS-Windows NT Domain SMB protocol.
The two things have almost nothing in common, and are not suitable replacements for each other.
