How to access a web server in LAN

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to Linux and I'm trying to access a web server which is situated in another machine (but in my LAN). I know the ip address of that machine.

Can anyone tell me how to access that webserver? I just need some guidance on how to contact that web-server from my machine. If anyone can give me the general procedures for accessing web-servers from linux machines that would be great.

I am using Red-hat linux.

Thanks for your all your help in advance.

Cheers!!

If it's a web server, have you tried just typing its IP address in a web browser (firefox, mozilla, konqueror etc.)?

Not enough information provided.
What do you mean by access? View a web page? Transfer files?
Or remote access like SSH or Telnet? Are the clients windows or linux PCs?

Hi MichaelK,

Thanks for the information. By access I mean remote access like Telnet or SSH. The client is also a Linux PC.

Cheers!!

Hi Pwc101,

Thank you so much. I typed the IP address on the browser and it worked like charm. But, what I actually need is a code in linux that will automatically access the web server each time a user request's for some information.

So maybe what I can do is I can write a script that calls the web-browser from terminal each time a request is made and then specify the IP address of the Web-server and the information to be retrieved. Will that work? Or is there any way I can do this directly in Linux?

Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

Cheers!!
