How the heck to I get into the GUI?
I'm extremely new to Mandrake Linux... in fact I just finished installing it for the first time 10 minutes ago.
I cannot seem to be able to get into the Graphical Interface mode of Mandrake? It asks me to log-in in text mode... but I have no idea what I'm doing. My boot options are only: linux linux-nonfb failsafe floppy None of them seem to get me into the GUI. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! >> krazwerk the :newbie: |
Login and then type:
Code:
startx Edit: Please do not post in more than ONE forum. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...threadid=91793 |
That doesn't work. I get an error (errno 13) and then later, after it "gives up" I get (errno 2) :(

try first creating a .xinitrc file in your home directory, if it isnt there already, that says something like:
exec startkde then run /usr/X11R6/bin/xf86config to configure x again and/or try do: ln -s /usr/X11R6/bin/XFree86 /etc/X11/X |
