how should i connect to my wireless network at home in ubuntu 8.10???
 
Hello everyone...
i am absolutely a newbie. yesterday only installed ubuntu 8.10...
i have a netgear router. Now, it detects the wireless network. bt i dont know how to connect to it..
it gets connected to wired broadband very easily..
plz tell me in detail coz ive searched a lot in google and failed...

Do you get a signal meter in the notification area on your desktop? If so, double click on that. You may be prompted to enter your WPA/WPA2 credentials if you have your network secure.

If you don't see a signal meter, please cut and paste output from the following commands:

hey thnx SONIKK... BUT....
yeah, d signal is visible.. how 2 make out if d key is wpa128bit/LEAP/WEP etc etc... ive tried all d options and entered d key in each.. bt it asks again and again for the passkey.. and finally it doesnt connect...
now what shud i do.........

Hi, I have the same problem.Did you get solved your problem.It is funny that VIsta and explorer can not find my own modem&net work but finds my neighbours or when I am with my daughters home I could get connected.

Write to me if you have an answer. I am also trying.
