You need to install kermit (or ckermit) or an equivalent utility. This also entitles you to a free 300-baud modem from my attic.

That's what I was thinking, haven't heard this question for many years.

Minicom.

Open it up on both machines, select the serial port and baud rate. Put the receiving side in Zmodem receive mode (google it) then on the sending side use zmodem upload (google it).

There is plenty of other ways to do this, but minicom has always been my go to for it.

Not sure you can do putty with serial unless you do some ssh.

One could get wild and do a raw sort of transfer. I did that way way way back.

Then we got things like kermit and the other file transfer types like x/y/zmodem. I'd think you have lrzsz or easy to get usually.

Minicomm/picocomm is great too.

NC the Swiss army knife will work.

Think you can get ssh to do it also.

Slip or PPP should work.

Old data still useful. http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Remote-Serial-Console-HOWTO/

GiZmo that turns serial into ip based.

Getty/agetty may work.

UUCP Unix to Unix copy program.

I'm sure there are other ways.

Thanks ! I would like the 300 b modem .

"Not sure you can do putty with serial unless you do some ssh" In this case, it seems that scp can do the job, but the first computer try to comm using port 22, the argument
scp -P ttys0
is not recognized, I canīt tell it that there is a serial link established.

It is a bit confusing to me, I come from the Windows world, I was using Hyperterminal or MSComm where this task was very simple, and I thought that would exist an equivalent.
