How much swap for GNOME?

Ok, Here's my target computer.

266Mhz Pentium II MMX
64MB RAM

I want to run GNOME, and from previous experience on a faster clockspeed computer (same RAM), it needs more swap. How much swap do you think I need? How about to run Open Office? (I never actually saw it load on a linux, I'm so lazy.)

I know I need more RAM, And, yes, RAM is cheap, but I'm really on a shoestring budget (ie. nothing over $20). :D

Please answer.

Would you believe it that PC100 costs as much as the PC3200! :)

How much extra space do you have on the hard drive? The more the better. The books say double your installed ram. You might get better use of that tower as a web server or firewall or router.
Check local computer stores most will have old ram for a couple bucks, or watch for an old tower on garbage day. There's always something useable in them.

I think 128 MB ram is a minimum for running Gnome. Your performance will probably be very bad with 64 MB. Ebay has numerous 64 MB sticks for less than $10 US.
