How many ways can you change a nice and renice level


hi guys,

top can do it
the shell can do it
ps cant do it
is there any other ways, or tools?

Both 'nice' and 'renice' command do.

No. ps is "process status". It does not change nice values.

You didn't indicate what your distribution is, but if you are using systemd then the nice values don't mean the same thing as they used to.

Within a process group nice values do work - but they have no effect relative to processes running in other process groups.
