how etho related with modules.conf file
Hi,
Mara mam..... It is like scenario.... but not a problem...it is just doubt....... "How Eth0 is related with modules.conf" ..... I got this doubt.... because... Regarding sound drivers i installed ALSA drivers... but not able to success to get sound from my system that is another matter... that's why i checked and done some modifications in etc/modules.conf file... related to OSS drivers i made some modifications....(i put them in a comments ) but I didn't edit any ALSA drivers configuration.... after these changes when i reboot the system then i am not able to connect to Internet..... then from terminal i typed ifconfig... i got the information of lo(loop back Address) but not eth0 address.... why ..then immediatly i changed back as it is before in etc\modules.conf file........ Now Everything alright . any suggestion or help would ne appreciate. Thanx in advance.. zameer ahmed syed Now My Question : How this modules.conf file is related with Eth0 ....... still i am in confused. |
try ifconfig eth0
|
Quite depends on the distro and the way it's setting
itself up ... my eepro100 get's loaded independent of modules.conf in slack 10 ... On my router at home I make explicit selections as to which card handles which interface in modules.conf Code:
alias eth0 8139too Cheers, Tink |
Thanx Tinkster......
Ur informaion is obviously fine..... i am having some info regarding this etho in modules.conf file like alias etho xxxxtoo ....but i didn't change any thing to this line.... even i didn't touch it.... why it shows only lo(loopback )only info when OSS drivers code have been replaced in modules.conf?????have any idea........ Thanx with regds............ zameer ahmed syed.. |
Hard to say without seing the actual file ...
Maybe there's some invisible character stuck in there somewhere before the eth0 line.... try moving it to the top of the file. Cheers, Tink |
