How does Swap Space work?


What's the purpose of it? What does it do?

it is a place to store data that does not fit into your memory. normally less recently used data will be swapped out to at inoreder to free up pages for currently required data.

Its like virtual memory on windows. Except that linux has the ability to use a partition instead of just a file and linux does it better.
