How do you find an application using launch application

I clicked on an email link that was on a website and it gave me the option to use yahoomail or gmail but I would rather use Thunderbird that is already installed on my computer. I manually searched for the application and accidentally added more options to the launch application box. I'd like to add the right file to the list so that when I click on another email address it automatically opens thunderbird.
Please help me with theses two issues. thanks!

If you are using Firefox go to Edit->Preferences->Applications

In the "Search:" field type "mailto"

Change the Action to Thunderbird
