How do you EXIT THINGS? I have to relogin to close everything!

OK. If I do top , then I don't know what to do. How do I get OUT of top. All I can do is stop the process with shift+z, then kill it. Is there no way to just stop it? Or how about the man pages? Or getting out of Vi? Or emacs? HOW DO YOU EXIT THESE THINGS?

top, man pages.. you can hit the Q key..
vi.. you can do a colon + q to quit.. and to save you can shift + ZZ if you made changes.. pretty simple.. I saw it as this when I was learning linux.. when I got into a program I didn't know how to get out of.. first thing I tried was some combo with the Q key involved. Works on most of them.

You can also try using ctrl-c to exit out of some programs like top
