How do you decompress files, or run files such as the Netscape 6 Uninstaller in RH7.2

I had tried to get into Linux about half a year ago and it messed up my computer completely, but now I have a new computer...unfortunately it is a P4 and for this reason I decided to try Red Hat Linux 7.2

Well now I have it installed...it has frozen a few times, and I can't play any of the games that came with it due to the fact that they run like if I had a 286 all over again...but that is another issue.

The Main issue is that I can't decompress most things easily...somehow I managed to decompress Netscape 6 but now I can't run the installer...I've tried the KDE and GNOME but in both I couldn't find any options that would get it to run...so how do I do it?

Oh ya, and I'll be back here many times in the next couple weeks, trying to learn this interesting OS.

Go to the directory that you unpacked the file to and type ./configure then you'll have to do make and then a make install I believe that should do. Since you have RH are you downloading the .rpm/.srpm files? archiver does a fine job installing these files also if I remember right. Then again, i'm tired and could be conflustered. LOL Good luck now haha
