how do you change your path?
 

every time i try to download something and 'save it disk' i have no idea where the file ends up. how do you 1. figure out what happened to your download and 2. change the path so you can download the file onto a cd-rw? thanks.

Furst of all, you should be telling us what distro you are using..

Most likely your files are being downloaded to /home/%username% unless you have changed that. If you can't seem to find them, just run a search for the file name...

What are you using to download? When your download using your browser, a save file dialog opens and you pick the location. If you use wget, then it will land whereever you are when you use it unless you specify a path. Basically, the files are going where you tell them to.

You want to download a file in real-time and simultaneously burn it to a CDRW? First, mount the CDRW as such, and test it to see if you can use it as a real-time dynamic disk. If you can, then you should be able to CD to it and wget from there, or you can pick it in your browser from it's directory mount point.
