How do I start ethernet card?!

I've reinstalled slackware.. and it seems that (if I bypass bootloader in other thread) that
I do not have eth card :S
I got 2 eth card.

I used eth1 in all the other distribs I had and I want to start it as DHCP.

but it doesn't find the card.. how can I let it up or something?

Code:
ifdown eth1 -- no such command (ifdown/ifup)
ifconfig eth1/eth0 up -- no such device

help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Code:
ifconfig -a
to get all interfaces--active or not

Code:
ifconfig ethX up
to activate ethX

Code:
dmesg|grep eth
to see if a card was detected on boot-up

like I said...
ifconfig -a gives me ll (local loopback...)

ifconfig ETHn (n=0,1 ....i) gives an error since no eth is defined.

how do I define it?!
how do I make the computer to recognize it...?

thanks

Ethernet cards not working after a Slack install with a 2.6 kernel usually indicate that the kernel-modules for 2.6.x were not installed.

Read the second post here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...kware+11+mouse

Google.com may have ICMP meassage being blocked to you won't get a request from it. I just checked and you can ping www.yahoo.com though. Also try ping www.google.com instead of just google.com

Forgot you may have to do dhcpcd eth0 or dhclient eth0
