How do I setup to dial in and access the internet thru Dsl line?
I am using a Red Hat 9.0 machine as a router on my LAN, sharing access to a DSL line with a static IP address. How do I configure my modem to receive an incoming dial-in call to allow the caller to access the internet. I have a low cost 800 service and frequently visit remote areas with no local access available. I would like to use my incoming 800 number to access my home network and out to the internet. Is this feasible? I already use packet forwarding, can I log on through the modem?

The basics are to install pppd and start a getty on your modem in /etc/inittab.
I am new to this and am having trouble getting past a disconnect problem, though the initial connection seems to work fine. I am going to suggest Googling for a good howto as my links are on another system. |
