How do I setup a router to use the internet in Fedora?

Hello Everybody I attend ITT-Tech and I'm currently taking my first Linux class. The teacher is requiring the students to join a Linux Forum and ask questions. I take no shame in admitting that I know nothing about Linux but I am willing to learn. So with that out of the way my question is How would I go about using Fedora to set up my router to access the internet? The router I use is a standard Link System Router I bought at Wal-Mart

Thank You

Toastyjsd

I followed the advise from Tredegar and have successfully connected to the internet through my router. Now the only problem I have is that once I disconnected the cable from my computer to the router I lose my internet connection. Is there a way for Fedora to detect the router or will I have to set up the router manually?

What sort of router are we talking about here? A regular home-office type wireless router?

You wouldn't need to do anything on the client side other than specify you want to use DHCP. The router should handle all authentication and NAT to actually get onto the Internet.

Connect an ethernet cable between your PC's ethernet port and a port on your router.
Make sure your router is turned on.
Boot linux.
You should be connected.
If not, come back to this thread, and tell us what happened. Someone is likely to help.
Welcome to LQ.
