HOw do I set up Linux to use DSL?

I am new to Linux, in fact, not even using it yet. I am so darn tired of Windoze' "This program has performed an illegal operation and will close" crap, that I am willing to try to learn something new.

I have Linux loaded on a disk, in a caddy, ready to use, but dont' know hbow to set it up for use on the internet, and more specifically for DSL. I see instrucions for dial-up, but no info for DSL. Can someone please tell me how to set up for DLS use of Linux. Please be very detailed, as I am the guy that that took back the "Linux for Dummys" book, because it is way over my head. Please help me escape from the Microsoft prison.

Thank you for any help. Please e-mail help to jimvan_usa@yahoo.com

Try a live cd, I like mepis or slax and it will most likely work. If it doesn't post back and we can help. Hard to say anything now because I don't know if you will have any problem. You will do just fine. Good Luck

What is a "live ce" or a "mepis" or a "slax?"

Live CDs let you run Linux from the CD, so they're good if you want to try it. Mepis and Slax are examples of distributions that have live CDs. About DSL: it may help us if you tell us what kind of hardware you're using. You're less likely to have problems if you're using an Ethernet modem/router than a USB one.
