How do I runl the Tor browser in UBUNTU fro a USB stick?
Hi there. I am a first time user of Linux. I have installed Ubuntu 14.04 & it isworking ok. I want to download the Tor browser & run it from a USB stick. I had no problem doing this with Windows 8.1, but am clueless as to how to make it work in Linux! Any help appreciated.

I'm no expert but you probably have a permission issue. If your flash dive is Fat32 or NTFS you will probably have to create a fstab entry for it and set permissions there, however that will likely create complications when you remove it and reinsert it.

linux doesn't really use "portable" apps.
there's ways to run tor browser in its own environment from a usb stick; there was a program that would do that automatically, but i can't find it anymore :-( for me, the bigger question is: Why? since you have ubuntu installed anyway, and since tor browser is designed to leave no traces on your computer? but, i found this: http://portablelinuxapps.org/ - seems legit. wasn't the one i remembered, though. |
Thanks to all replies to my question. Looks like the obvious thing to do is install Tor on my HD. I'll give it a go. I have zero knowledge of Linux, so may have to ask for help later.

just put "tails" on the usb
or download the "tor-bundle" and use that and fallow the instructions BUT READ YES READ , THEN REREAD THE TOR DOCUMENTATION ON THE USE OF TOR !!!!!!! |
