How do I run python-updater?

Total newbie question: how do I run python-updater?

Details:

I'm running Puppy 5.20 and installed wicd.

When I run it, I get

# wicd-client
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/share/wicd/gtk/wicd-client.py", line 47, in <module>
from dbus import DBusException
ImportError: No module named dbus

I found a very simple solution for this on the web: somebody said "run python-updater".

But I haven't found where anyone has said how to install or run python-updater. Simply typing "python updater" at the command line gives me a "command not found" error.

I had an earlier version of Python installed. Then I installed Python-+-2.6.4-i486 to fix a previous wicd error "No moduled named gtk". Maybe python-updater will fix the dbus problem.

Please help if you can!

Thank you!

Steve.

From what I can tell from a quick google, python-updater seems to be specific to Gentoo. The error you get suggests that you don't have the Python bindings for D-Bus installed. So, you need to find the relevant package and install it. I know nothing about Puppy's package management system, so can't help there, I'm afraid.

Great. That helps a lot. Sounds like I was running down the wrong rabbit trail! I will look for packages having to do with dbus.

Thank you!
