With all due respect but I think the question instead should be "how do I reconfigure things so I get my Wireless working again". Posting your card info et cetera could help.

wlan

ok, I tried to re-install the madwifi driver ...

after an online software update I lost my wlan connection .. so I have a toshiba laptop, wlan atheros ar5007eg chip, suse 11.0, it seems that the update changed my kernel from a 2.6.25.5 to 2.6.25.16 , I recompiled the madwifi driver but there is no ath0 or wifi0 listing after using the iwconfig command but it will show eth0 and l0

All modules compiled, installed and loaded OK? Did you point to the right configuration? Any interesting commandline or syslog errors or 'dmesg' output? Followed any instructions from a known good HOWTO to verify you didn't miss any steps? Sure the "ath5k" driver (kernel default Madwifi "replacement") wasn't loaded blocking the rest?

success

Well I deleted the exiting madwifi folders and then downloaded the new files and snapshot required for my atheros chip. Started over and everything went fine ... must have had a corrupted exiting madwifi file

thank you for your help
Eric
