How do I reset the root password at boot for Xantros 2.0?

I have a machine I'm trying to access that has Xantros 2.0 together with Windows 2000 as a daul boot. My question is how can I reset the administrator password for Xandross 2.0 at bootup? I must also add that this is a GUI interface with just a Login Screen.

One way I've used before is to chroot into the host system using a live cd, and then changing the root password that way. Another way I've heard of is to go into single user mode by editing the GRUB or LILO entry, then changing the user.

In any case, here are some possibilities:

set up root paaw

step:1
go to single user mode

how>>..During the boot menu

press e

type s after the first line

then you will move to single user mode

step:2 type #passwd root
and change the passwd

reply if any problem
