? 5.5 ?

centos 5.5 hit "end of life" back in April
at that time you needed to upgrade to 5.6
5.6 now is "End of Life" and needs to be upgraded to 5.7

CentOS ONLY supports the Current version and DOSE NOT back port to old versions like Red Hat dose

How did you install this "driver"
undo what you did to uninstall

and UPGRADE to the current 5.7
see the CentOS wiki

I cannot upgrade because the product I am using with this OS is tied to the kernel version.

I did not "do" anything to install this driver. It installed, I guessing, when I installed from the CentOS installation DVD.

googling the corporation ( qlogic )
they make controllers for MANY things
from the dbus to printers to harddrives to usb to sound

so without knowing what is causing you problems
your errors and why your think you need to uninstall it ( not turn it off in udev )

i can be of no help .

I am using the Qlogic Fibre Channel adapter QLE2562-CK. Our vendor loads their own modified driver when their software starts up so I don't want the standard driver, the one that comes with CentOS, to be loaded on boot.

Errors are not the issue.

Thanks

You could try blacklisting the module so it will not load.
