how do i make shortcuts on the desktop?
 
im still a newbie and im using suse 9.2 pro. i would like to make shortcut icons on my desktop to make it easier for me to find applications that i use. any suggestions?

Search for files ending in ".desktop" and then copy the appropriate one to your actual desktop.

dude, which desktop r u using? if it's kde/gnome, then you can right click on the desktop and get to the create launcher or create file... menu
if it's blackbox, fluxbox, xfce, etc. you're out of luck

the desktop that im using is kde. i think that its 3.3.

right click on the desktop, choose "create link to new application" and fill in the blanks.
if you click on the icon image, you can choose different icons as well.
