How do I make an Ubuntu Flash-Drive?
I saw a video on how to make an Ubuntu Flash-Drive, but I'm still kind of confused about a few things...
If I already have the LiveCD for the version I want to put on my flash-drive, do I still need to download it? When, and if I do need to download it, Where do I save the files? To the flash-drive itself? Or to my hard-drive, and move it to my flash-drive? |
|
Or you could just upgrade to 8.10 which has a tool for doing exactly what you want :)

if u have a livecd why would u care for flashdrives?
|
Because you can make a flash install persistent, which means it'll save your settings between sessions. Unlike a live CD which usually forgets them.

yah
thats a good point.. i will look into this matter |
Well, I attend college with a bunch of mid-line Dells running Windows XP.
I love Windows Vista, (Yeah, I said it. Bring it ON!) but I despise Windows XP (I said that too) Having a portable Linux app that will let me save data sounds just wonderful! What is the name of this program in 8.10 that makes the flash-drives for you? |
If you have the live CD it's an option in the Administration submenu under System.

System >> Administration
