Hi

Apt-get is used for installing GNU/Linux packages, not Perl modules.
The first place to look for Perl modules are the CPAN web-pages.

The File::Copy::Recursive Perl module can be loaded from the CPAN page
http://search.cpan.org/dist/File-Copy-Recursive/
The README special file linked from there gives instructions for installing the module

That is wrong : 2,170 perl modules are available as packages ..
http://packages.ubuntu.com/lucid/perl/

sudo apt-get install libfile-copy-recursive-perl

.. will provide ' File::Copy::Recursive Perl '.

Whoops, sorry about that, but I am only a newbie really (ignore that it says I'm a Member under my name - I only just noticed that today). And I'm only a gardener at that.

My book on Perl had suggested that CPAN was THE place to go for modules.
It had not occurred to me that the modules would be incorporated into Ubuntu (and other distro) package libraries.

One of the many things I've learned today on LQ

Thank you

Martin

OK, you are right to some extend, as there probably are 5,000
CPAN modules / packages :
All the modules not included in Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, etc. :
The 'cpan' command is to be used for the install.
( Some may fail with 'cpan' and a manual install can be tried :
'perl Makefile.PL && make , etc.)

..
