How do I install WINE on Linux Xandros?
 

OK, so I purchased an ASUS Eee PC 701SD Linux. I just figured out that its a Linux Xandros OS and how I can open a terminal window (Ctrl+Alt+T)! So far so good. Now I need to know how to install this program called "Wine" on my system so I can open file extensions like .exe.

Any ideas as to how I should go about installing Wine??

Xandros has a add remove program?Does it use synaptic?Xandros is based on Debian so if you open command line and do
apt-get update
then
apt-get install wine
if its in Xandros repos it will install..

when I tried doing apt - get update, it states that apt is not a valid command..

well..looking at Xandros sight ..it says its based on debian Sarge..which is a old version..maybe this forum will help you out better..

did you enter su before apt-get??
you type su then it will ask for your root password,,then you can apt-get install
apt-get has no spaces
not sure..but it might use sudo..so
sudo apt-get
if after entering sudo apt-get install wine
it says it cant find package..you may need to add extra repos to source list..this will help you out..
