How do i install Ubuntu from the command line of PClinux using Unetbootin?

Hi all

I tried using PCLinux but did not like it so am trying to return to Gutsy. My problem is that I do not have a CD drive and thus need to use Unetbootin to install Gutsy. I do not have MS Windows installed and have never used the command line to do this installation from linux. I am thus unable to even launch the Unebootin application.

Does anyone know of a very simple guide to do this? (N.B. The UNebootin guide merely tells you to launch the application - I can't even achieve that!!)

many thanks in advance!

How old is the computer

One more thing to bear in mind is the Ubuntu flavor. If you do not have a CD drive, then I am wondering how old the computer is and what its resources are.

If there is not a lot of RAM -- < 512 MB -- I suggest installing XUbuntu. It will demand less of your older hardware.

thanks to both of you.

that other link to the Ubuntu thread is mine and it did not work. My computer is a dell d410 with a 2ghz processor and 1,000mb of ram. It ran Ubuntu fine when I had a dual install with Windows. However, I messed up the GRUB loader and then I had to reinstall a new operating system with a USB stick. I can download the .rpm file from Unebootin no problem, but what command do I input from there?

does anyone know?

many thanks
