how do i install thunderbird in suse 10


how do i install my thunderbird in suse 10? i am a normal user, and i extract the tarball under the /home/user directory. then, from the console, i prompt in sh /home/user/thunderbird/thunderbird . am i right? should i paste it under /home/user or /usr?? thanks

You should be able to use YaST to install it. I would fire up YaST and go to the software install portion and find Thunderbird - I'm sure it's there. You can do it the way you described, but then Suse can't keep track of what it has installed.

I'm afraid Thunderbird is not to be found via Yast > Software management, at least here it isn't. The command you have issued should work, as user too: again, here it works.

Thunderbird

You can also download the RPM from here:

ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/mozi...5-4.1.i586.rpm

Just browse to it (like in the Konqueror file manager), right click on it, select ACTIONS, and then INSTALL WITH YAST. Enter your root password, and it should install very painlessly.
