How do i install php on rhel 6.


If I run "yum install php" it says no package available.

have you tried

usually php package is replaced by php5. I am not sure if it work or not. But for me it will... I am on debian...

Same thing: 'no package php5 available'

If i run php list | grep php it comes back empty...

That command makes no sense. "php list"??? Type in "php --version", and see if you get results. If so, PHP is already installed.

Otherwise, since you're using RHEL, you can call RedHat support for help...if you're NOT paying for RHEL, then you won't have access to the online repositories, which means you won't be able to install it via yum. You will then have to download the source and build it for your system.

I'm not your "bro", and was making sure you meant what you typed, or if it was an error.

The answer appears to be that the server needs to be activated with red hat network. Accomplished by running rhn_activate with a valid username and password. After that yum appears to be great.....
