How do I install my 8800GTS video card drivers?

So I downloaded them from nvidia, but now how do I install the thing? I was told on the site to just type in sh /home/jon/desktop/NVIDA-Linux-x86-177.82-pkg1.run

So I did, and well I got a error. The error was that the nvidia installer must be a root. What does that mean?

Aslo, what is the name of the dock that is used on linux?

Thanks
JonW

You need to be logged in as a root user to install it. This is done by typing either
Code:
su
or
Code:
sudo
in a terminal.
