How do I install mplayer in fedora 2?

I can't figure out how to get mplayer. I have been ro google a thousand times and it says I need to add some repositories to my sources list library. I have tried to do this unsuccessfully. I must be misunderstanding the steps in adding these repositories. I am trying to edit my sources list library but I apparently have no idea how. Can someone please give me some kind of walkthrough? Thanks

Fedora can be updated using a system calleg apt. When you run the command apt-get update, the apt progrm will check servers on the Intenet for newer packages on your computer. THe list of servers is kept in a text file called the sources list. The sources list is the list of servers that have apt information and they are called repositories. Apt is meant to replace the system RedHat used called up2date. up2date went away when RedHat company stopped officially supporting home users.
