Question How do I install JAR extension file in SUSE?

Hello, To whom it may concern

I have Azureus 2.2.0.2 install on my Suse machine and when I open the application (Azureus) an updated version (Azureus 2.3.0.4) is downloaded on my machine. Updated version is download in my /TMP/AZUREUS2.3.0.4.JAR directory.

I do I install a file with JAR extension in my Suse machine? I already have the latest version of Java 1.5.0.2 RPM install on my machine and JAR extension is a Sun JAVA application. I do I install on my machine (Please Detail Step by step). Thanks

Run it using java. It is not packet for your system, but for java. I think when you type "java <name>.jar" it will run an installer...

It's not finding the file in that path, are you sure that's where it is? Is the filename in all caps as you posted above? If so, you'll need to use the same capitalization when you run it.

Message ----------------------------------------------------------------------
PATH=$PATH:/usr/java/j2re1.5.0_04/bin
export PATH
export JAVA_HOME=/usr/java/j2re1.5.0_04
java -Djava.library.path=. -jar iriverter.jar

obviously put in wherever u installed java and replace iriverrter with azureus

I their a way to find out where JAVA is install on my machine.
Right now I have 4 version install locally on machine.
Is their a way to find the Path for Java?

I have java Folder 1.4.0, 1.4.1, 1.4.2, 1.5.0? and I do not have a /usr/java folder.

Reply 2 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

if u have a folder java1.5.0 thats the folder you want to put in theres no command to give you
javas location until youve used this command linux doesnt know where java is

Reply 3 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The reason that I'm confuse is because under Java, I do not have a bin folder on my machine.
This is the folder i have on my machine. (No Bin Folder)

In which folder to I run the PATH, Export Path and -JAR Command

/usr/lib/java-1.4.0
/usr/lib/java-1.4.1
/usr/lib/java-1.4.2
/usr/lib/java-1.5.0

/usr/share/java-1.4.0
/usr/share/java-1.4.1
/usr/share/java-1.4.2
/usr/share/java-1.5.0

/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.4.2-sun-1.4.2.06
/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.4.2-sun-1.4.2.08
/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun-1.5.0_03

/usr/lib/jvm-exports/java-1.4.2-sun-1.4.2.08
/usr/lib/jvm-exports/java-1.5.0-sun-1.5.0_03

Thanks

Smile Mandriva Questions!

Ok, I am completely a Linux NEWBIE! I am using Mandriva currently. I am attempting to use a chat program downloaded from the net on Mandriva that is JAVA based. I have downloaded and installed JAVA to my system. I just want to know how to run and/or install a java file? Do you do it in Konsole or what? Step-by-step instructions would be greatly appreciated!!!
