How do I Inport an Outlook Express Address Book.

Hi, I have just started to use SuSe 10.1, it's great. Can anyone please tell me how to import a Windows Outlook Express contact list ( WAB). I have saved it to a Floppy, but Evolution does not recognise the file when I try to import it. Thanks.

Hmm, when I made my migration from windows to Linux, I used thunderbird's Import function, saved the adress book to a known location, and then loaded the adressbook into thunderbird for linux. I guess you could do the same with in the final line evolution instead of thunderbird ?

Outlook Express - Evolution.

Thanks for the reply, I tried again.
Exported the Outlook Express Address Book to a Floppy, mounted the floppy in SuSe, opened Evolution, used the Import Facility in Evolution. Browsed to find the file on the floppy, the file was read & put on the command line but it was not recognised as being a valid file type by Evolution.
The Outlook Express file is a - .WAB.
The list of valid file types given by Evolution is -
.Mbiv , .CSV , .TAB , .VCT , .GCrp , .IDIF , .VCF ,
Is there anyway that I can convert the .WAB file to one of the valid ones, or any other workarounds, or do I have to enter all the contacts manualy. regards John.

Further to reply

I have just found a posting on this subject suggesting -
Install Thunderbird on Win XP, import the .WAB to this, save as default format - .IDIF, the import that to Evolution. I'll try this next. Regards John.

Thanks for Help

:) I followed a suggestion from another post - I downloaded Mozilla Thunderbird from Mozilla Website, installed it on my Win XP box, when it self configures, it imports the Address Book from Outlook Express. I then exported it in the default format IDIF, to a floppy. Taking the floppy to my SuSe box I imported the file on the floppy to Evolution - success, my list of contacts is on Evolution & problem solved. Could this idea be added to How To's, if so how? regards. :D
