How do I get WIFI functioning on a HP-2133?
Just got a HP-2133. I love it so far. It's operating system is Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 and I'm using Open Office and Firefox, the standard configuration on the model I have. I have no knowledge or experence with Linux and I'm going nuts trying to figure out how to get Firefox to pick up my own WIFI network that is running on my desktop. It is a"Wireless Siemens ADSL". Any help will be greatly appreciated, especially if it is pitched for a complete amature. :) Bob.

Access YAST and under the Network Devices link reconfigure the network card. The steps are described by the accompanying wizard. After configuration, the system tray will show whether the network is connected or Not. Once connected, you should be able to browse.
You may also need to setup a proxy or network sharing on the Desktop to allow other PCs to access the net through that network. |
Very Helpful.

"Dependency" refers to the auxillary applications needed for a main application to run. I am guessing Skype is missing one such program. Usually during installation with the wizard, the list of dependent application will get detected and automatically downloaded and installed. Did you install Skype with the application manager or by downloading a gz package and running it? My experience is that gz packages usually have dependency errors, since the app manager is bypassed.
Try installing through the manager, hopefully the package is available in the repository. |
