how do I get the internet link up in slackware?

Hi,
I have a slackware based distro (VectorLinux) and I managed to get adsl working on it by using Roaring Penguin tool and it works great. Now here's the problem, we have ethernet jacks at school and all you have to do to access internet (on windows computers) through them is to plug your laptop in and it automatically looks at your MAC address and approves you. I registered my Mac address but I have no clue as to how to start the connection. It doesnt automatically start the connection. Please help me because I really dont wanna use windows in my laptop.
Thanks

it takes me through different screens and I put in the values but it still doesnt connect. I even used
ifconfig eth0 up
nothing! It works fine with adsl through the same ethernet card so i am assuming there's nothing wrong with that.. any other suggestions?
Thanks

in netconfig choose dhcp as means of obtaining IP. Your school has a dhcp server with static leases for registered MAC's - sort of a security measure I'd guess, not registered MAC won't get an IP, or it will get an IP from a range that isn't allowed by your compus' firewall to go to the net. Just remember that you will have to reconfigure every time you want to use your laptop at home and school.
P.S. You will have to issue
/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1
every time you reconfigure so that you don't have to reboot
