How do I get online with an old lappy (128mb ram, 6Gb hdd) running Puppy linux?

I have a Belkin usb adapter but can't figure out the answers to the Questions Puppy throws up when trying to configure it. The lappy is an old compaq with a floppy drive and no ethernet socket. It says 'Designed for ***dows 98 se' on a sticker. Haven't been able to check, but expect it's only USB1 capable. Any ideas? It'll have to go if I can't get it online.

So what are the questions you can't answer?

It's Puppy 4.3.1, installed onto hdd. When I click on lan wireless connection option as it doesn't automatically recognise any connections, and then click on 'load modules' none of the usb options seem to relate to the Belkin adapter I've got plugged into it. The only native internet connection on the machine is an old type telephone socket, no RJ45 socket. It's a Belkin wireless G USB Network Adapter model no F507050 as best I can make out without a magnifying glass. The machine is a Compaq Presario 1200.
Thanks for showing an interest I realise it's not a national emergency!

Please start a terminal, type the command
Code:
lsusb
into it and post the output here. That will give us a better description, what chipset your wireless adapter is using.

A quick google suggests that model number should be F5D7050. If you look here and select Belkin from the drop-box you'll see how to get that supported in Puppy V4.
I'd be guessing it's included in the latest versions - best option might be to upgrade that Puppy install - 5.1.1 now by the Download page.

Thank you all very much.
Unfortunately the lappy has probably just died! Either the on/off switch has broken or the psu or motherboard is dead. It won't respond in the slightest way to the switch, though the mains and battery charging lights are both lit.
I'll keep your replies for future reference. Thanks again.
Fittanelfy.
