How do I get normal windows?


Whenever I start Fedora and type startkde I get nothing but green windows, they cant minimize nor close. I was wondering how to get normal windows.

That doesn't sound right ... what do you see in /var/log/XFree86.0.log
( or Xorg.0.log if FC has X.org). Also check ~/.xsession-errors.

I had the same problem when I first installed FC3 with KDE. For some reason, it starts you with icewm or some other desktop enviornment than I (though) had been asked for. If what Tinkster suggests doesn't work, try issuing the the command
Code:
switchdesktop kde
Then I'd try startx, and you should have kde start up for you.

Sounds like TWM Tab Window Manager is what you were in.
