Question How do i get direct rendering ATI 8500?

I have installed ATI driver from aATI website. when I run glxgears, I get 70 - 100 FPS. That is very low.

When I run fglrxinfo I get this :

[root@localhost glenn]# fglrxinfo
display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: Mesa project: www.mesa3d.org
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect
OpenGL version string: 1.3 Mesa 4.0.4

What is wrong?
