Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

Hello and welcome! If you need advice on what to try next, describe, as best you can, the difficulties or problems you had with following advice already given. In this case: why is it not possible for you to ask them?
There may be many reasons for trying to find someone's email address, possibly needing different ways of doing it:
Are you trying to track down a spammer?
Did the email address get accidentally erased, and you only remember the name?
You know the email address is in your Linux machine somewhere, but you cannot find it? In this case you would need to mention what Linux distribution you have (Ubuntu, Debian, Mint etc) and someone with knowledge of that system might be able to help.

Thanks Linux Walt for your response.
I am trying to get the email address of a old friend who I haven't seen for many, many years. I know she has an email address, and I know her full name and the city she lives in
She lives in lees Summit, Missouri.
Any help you could render on my behalf would be appreciated.

Hello, there's a couple of problems here. Firstly please edit your post and remove the name of the person.
There's only one way I can think of that someone could help. If they had your personal information, including email, they could try looking for the person's email themselves, and pass on your information to them. The reason for this round about way is because you just can't be sure who you are talking to in a forum.
I'd be willing to give it a shot for you, but my private messages (to receive your info) is not working at the moment.
The second, minor problem, is that this is the wrong section. No biggie, the post will be moved where it needs to be.

Distribution: Lubuntu, Raspbian, Openelec, messing with others.
If they have a POTS line (Plain Old Telephone Service), number, you can look them up and call them.
If they have something like a Facebook page, you could connect through that, if your a member and send them a friend request. (I am not a member)
Next thing would be to send them a letter and ask for the email address, by first giving yours, so they can choose to email you or not.
Otherwise it would be asking mutual friends, classmates, etc. to give it to you.
Good all sorted then. If you still need help I have turned on my 'receive emails from members' option. I have never used it, but I assume that if you right click on my name, there will be an option for sending an email.
